Perseid Meteor Shower in 2016

Perseid meteor shower in 2016 will peak between August 12th and 13th.
The Perseids are named after the constellation Perseus and are made of space debris from comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseids can be found in the north-eastern part of the sky. It is usually the most sought after meteor shower to watch because at its peak, one can see 60 to a 100 meteors in an hour. In the Northern Hemisphere the Perseids can be seen between the north-east part of the sky and the zenith (the point in sky directly above you). You can easily see a shooting star with the naked eye so there will be no need for binoculars or a telescope just look straight up.

Due to a waxing gibbous Moon it may be harder for observers to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower in 2016, but the best time to view the meteor shower is right before dawn. Be sure to no use flash lights or look at your phone for a few minutes to let your eyes adjust to the nights sky.
