NASA’s Jupiter-bound Juno probe will arrive at its destination on July 4th 2016, upon arrival Juno will fire its main engine for 35 minutes, placing it into a polar orbit around Jupiter. Juno will probe beneath the cloud cover of Jupiter and study its auroras to learn more about the planet’s origins, structure, atmosphere, magnetosphere and gravitational field.

The Juno spacecraft launched Aug. 5, 2011 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Juno is part of NASA’s New Frontiers Program, which is managed at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.
